Renting in Broadbeach
Photo: Kgbo · CC BY-SA 4.0 on Wikimedia Commons (opens in a new tab)Broadbeach is a beach suburb with a large shopping centre attached. Pacific Fair, the convention centre, and the casino precinct sit at the southern end. The residential grid behind the highway is a different pace from the front row.
The G:link’s Broadbeach South station is also a major bus interchange, which makes the suburb one of the more useful places on the coast if you don’t want to drive. It also means event traffic. Walk the street on a Saturday, not only on a Tuesday morning.
What to check
Highway side or back street
Apartments on the Gold Coast Highway take traffic and tram noise. A street back can be calmer and further from the sand. Decide which trade you are making.
Weekend and event noise
The convention centre, casino, and mall draw crowds. If your building faces that precinct, stay nearby on a Friday night before you apply.
Bus routes changed when the tram reached Burleigh
From 7 September 2026, Translink shortened several highway buses that used to run north of Burleigh, because the tram now covers that leg. If you are combining a bus and a tram, check the journey planner. An old timetable is not reliable.
Clothes drying and salt
Balconies facing the sea are wet and salty. Check you have a real way to dry clothes, and look at the air-conditioner filters.
Parking at the mall is not your parking
Pacific Fair’s car park is for shopping. Your lease either includes a bay or it doesn’t.
Getting around and daily life
Transport notes checked in October 2026. Services change. Confirm the trip on Translink (opens in a new tab) and the light rail project page (opens in a new tab).
Broadbeach North and Broadbeach South are the G:link stations. Broadbeach South is the interchange: trams north to Surfers, Main Beach, Southport, and Helensvale, and south through Mermaid Beach, Nobby Beach, and Miami to Burleigh Heads.
The Stage 3 stations south of Broadbeach South, open to passengers since 9 August 2026, are Mermaid Beach, Mermaid Beach South, Nobby Beach, Miami North, Miami, Christine Avenue, Second Avenue, and Burleigh Heads. There is no Queensland Rail station in Broadbeach.
Pacific Fair
A full shopping centre, which many beach suburbs don’t have. Useful for a weekly shop. Busy in school holidays.
Kurrawa and the patrolled beach
The beach is the amenity. Crossings and the highway are the friction. Walk it with whatever you would normally carry.
Inland alternative
If you want a mall and a train more than a beach, compare Robina before you pay a coastal rent for a highway-facing unit.
