Renting in Palm Beach
Photo: John Robert McPherson · CC BY-SA 4.0 on Wikimedia Commons (opens in a new tab)Palm Beach is a long residential beach suburb between Burleigh Heads and Currumbin. Palm Beach Avenue is the local shop street. Most of the suburb is houses and brick apartments set back from the Gold Coast Highway, not a nightlife strip.
The tram does not come here. Burleigh Heads station is the nearest G:link stop, to the north. That is a bus, a bike, or a car, depending on which end of Palm Beach you are in. “Near Burleigh” in an ad can mean a serious distance.
What to check
Which end of a long suburb
The northern end is a different trip to Burleigh than the southern end near Currumbin Creek. Measure from the actual address.
Older beach buildings
Look at window seals, stair lighting, ground-floor security, and rust on railings. Salt air is a maintenance issue. Ask who has been paying for it.
Creek and canal streets
Currumbin Creek marks the southern end, and some low streets flood. Check the City of Gold Coast flood information for the lot, not a rumour about the suburb.
Highway buses were shortened in 2026
Translink’s September 2026 changes kept route 700 between Tweed Heads and Stockland Burleigh Heads, and stopped it running north to Broadbeach. The tram is the northern connection from Burleigh. Confirm the stop you would use.
Late-night services are elsewhere
A hospital is not around the corner. Robina and Southport are drives. Know which one you would use before you need it.
Getting around and daily life
Transport notes checked in October 2026. Services change. Confirm the trip on Translink (opens in a new tab).
There is no G:link station and no train station in Palm Beach. The nearest tram is Burleigh Heads. Highway buses run through the suburb toward Burleigh and toward Tweed Heads and Coolangatta.
After the tram extension, some buses that used to continue to Broadbeach South now end around Burleigh. Plan a real connection on Translink, including the walk from your street to the stop.
Palm Beach Avenue
The local shops and cafes. Enough for daily food, not a regional centre.
The beach
A long patrolled beach is the reason to be here. Check the actual path from the building to the sand, including at high tide if you are on the front row.
Currumbin, next door
The creek and the wildlife sanctuary sit at the southern edge. Nice neighbours. Not a substitute for checking flood mapping on a low block.
For flood risk, use the City of Gold Coast (opens in a new tab) mapping for the street address. A suburb-wide “it flooded once” is not a substitute.
