Renting in Main Beach

Main Beach sits north of Surfers Paradise, with the sea on one side and the Broadwater and marina on the other. Tedder Avenue is the restaurant strip. The Spit, further north, is the marina and Sea World end of the suburb.

It is quieter than Cavill Avenue. It is also thinner on ordinary shops. A pleasant dinner on Tedder Avenue does not mean a late supermarket downstairs. Walk the errand you would actually do.

What to check

One tram stop, then a walk

The G:link station is Main Beach. Streets toward The Spit or the southern edge can be a long walk with shopping. Time it.

Short-stay buildings exist here too

Quieter than Surfers does not mean every building is owner-occupied. Ask how the building treats short-stay guests, lifts, and the pool.

Parking is tight and timed

Streets are narrow. If a bay is not in the agreement, kerbside parking is a hope, not a term of the lease.

The Spit changes on holidays

Traffic toward the marina and Sea World builds on weekends and school holidays. If your street is the way in, visit then.

Salt and older low-rise blocks

Three-storey brick blocks are common among the towers. Check window hardware, balcony drains, and whether the stairwell feels safe at night.

Getting around and daily life

Transport notes checked in October 2026. Services change. Confirm the trip on Translink (opens in a new tab).

Main Beach station is on the G:link between Broadwater Parklands (Southport) and Surfers Paradise North. Southport’s shops and the hospital are a few stops north. Surfers is the next stops south.

There is no heavy rail station. Buses fill gaps the tram doesn’t. Fares and timetables change, so check Translink for the hour you travel, not a blog map.

Tedder Avenue

Restaurants and a small village feel. Useful, and not a full town centre.

Beach and Broadwater

You can be close to both. Confirm which one your building actually faces, and how you cross to the sand.

Everyday shopping

Plan the supermarket. Southport and parts of Surfers are the realistic options for a bigger shop. Don’t discover that after the bond is paid.
